The summit is an annual gathering for the Omani community in scientific research and education, as well as the global community in research and education, to share their knowledge and success stories, identify solutions, explore job opportunities, discuss current challenges, and find ways to improve services and achieve communication, collaboration, and innovation goals.

The conference is an ideal social meeting place that provides strong networking opportunities with diverse global and regional stakeholders, national research and education networks, researchers, solution providers, leading experts, decision-makers, and policymakers.

The summit will feature a one-day program with a distinguished lineup of speakers, various studies, discussion sessions, and unique presentations that provide access to a wealth of leading industry knowledge, share best practices and experiences, highlight trends, exchange information, offer modern insights, and practical recommendations.

SUMMIT OBJECTIVES

ABOUT OMREN

Oman Research and Education Network (OMREN) is an integral part of the sustainable infrastructure contributing to the emergence of an effective national innovation ecosystem. It also provides a shared network and suitable infrastructure for the research and education community in the Sultanate of Oman.

OMREN works towards the vision of enabling innovation, research, education, and electronic strategic international cooperation for the research and education community in the Sultanate of Oman.

OMREN Summit aligns with Vision Oman 2040, which emphasizes that education, learning, scientific research, and national talents are among the highest national priorities for the Sultanate of Oman.

Recently, the Sultanate has been highlighting innovation and scientific research through the National Strategy for Education 2040, as it recommends improving the quality of scientific research.

Vision 2040 outlines a national system that empowers human capabilities in the educational sector and nurtures scientific research, innovation, and creativity to build a knowledge-based economy and society. It emphasizes that a leap is required in quality and quantity in the domain of scientific research and development, through the provision of diverse and sustainable sources of funding to support applied scientific researches to promote innovation in various fields.

WHY NRENS?

National Research and Education Networks (NRENs) around the world provide critical high bandwidth connectivity to research and educational institutions for the purpose of having collaborative research and education services (e.g. online virtual libraries, virtual labs, telemedicine, grid computing, cloud computing, high-performance computing, video conferencing… etc).

NREN’s members create bridges for virtual collaboration between themselves locally and globally with their distributed communities and peers. IT networks are now fully integrated into higher education’s core operational and are essential to its research mission and growing in the importance of its overall mission of teaching and learning.
